DEPENDS Excellent for families and rain; smaller than Tokyo's teamLabs

teamLab Forest Fukuoka is open and permanent — it has been on the 5th floor of BOSS E・ZO by the PayPay Dome since 21 July 2020. Adults 16 and over pay ¥2,400 (~$16) at the gate, students ¥2,000 (~$13.35), children 4–15 ¥1,000 (~$6.67), under-4s free; Klook sells it from about $15 (~¥2,250) and has taken 60,000-plus bookings at 4.7. Open 11:00–19:00 on weekdays, from 10:00 at weekends. Give it 1.5–2 hours, download the app before you arrive, and treat the whole E・ZO building as the best wet-weather afternoon in Fukuoka.

The closure you half-remember happened in Tokyo

The rumour, killed

This is the most common factual error in English-language Fukuoka planning, and it costs people a good afternoon.

teamLab Forest Fukuoka is open — permanently, on the 5th floor of BOSS E・ZO by the PayPay Dome. The persistent rumour that it closed comes from a different museum: teamLab Borderless in Odaiba, Tokyo, which shut in 2022 and later reopened elsewhere. Fukuoka's never closed.

The evidence is not subtle: teamLab's own site lists Forest Fukuoka as 'Permanent', opened 21 July 2020; BOSS E・ZO lists it as the 5F tenant; the official E・ZO price page carries a live ¥1,000–2,700 (~$6.67–18) band for it; and Klook has processed over 60,000 bookings at 4.7 from 1,800-plus reviews. Japanese-language searches for a closure notice return nothing at all. If a guide tells you it shut, that guide has confused it with Borderless.

What you actually get: two zones. 'Catch and Collect Forest' runs on a phone app — you photograph projected animals to collect them, and the app download is slow on venue wifi, so do it at your hotel. 'Athletics Forest' is the physical half: sloped, bouncy, climbable, and aimed squarely at children who have been well behaved in temples all morning. It is materially smaller than teamLab Planets or the Azabudai Borderless, which is the honest reason this page says DEPENDS rather than WORTH IT.

Timed entry — book it, don't queue for it

Book it

Entry is by time slot and weekend afternoons fill. The online price also undercuts the gate slightly, which is a bonus rather than the reason.

Budget honestly: a family of four doing teamLab, one rooftop ride and food lands at ¥12,000–16,000 (~$80–105). The Oh museum is the building's priciest single ticket and its exhibition is Japanese-heavy — buy it if you're a baseball person, skip it if you're not, and put the money into an actual Hawks game instead.

絶景3兄弟 — and why your guidebook's names are wrong

The rooftop, correctly named

The rooftop attractions were rebranded as the 'Spectacular-View Three Brothers'. The old Zekkei Buranko swing, Suberun-desu slide and zip line names are gone from every official page — if a guide sends you up there for the cliff-edge swing, it hasn't checked since the rename.

すべZO (SubeZO) — the tube slide

An enclosed tube slide down the outside of the building. From ¥1,000 (~$6.67), with peak days quoted at ¥1,400–1,700 (~$9.35–11.35). Runs 10:00–20:00, from 11:00 on weekdays.

Age 10–64 · height 130 cm and up · weight 35 kg and up
つりZO (TsuriZO) — the hanging coaster

A suspended rail ride around the roof edge, and the one with the view. From ¥1,500 (~$10), peaking at ¥1,800–2,500 (~$12–16.67). Runs 10:00–19:00, from 11:00 on weekdays.

Age 13–64 · height 130 cm and up · weight 30–90 kg
のぼZO (NoboZO) — climbing and bouldering

Rooftop climbing wall from ¥900 (~$6); the bouldering wall from ¥500 (~$3.35). The cheapest way onto the roof, and the only one small children can use.

Climbing age 7+ · bouldering age 4+
The names you'll see in old guides

絶景ブランコ (Zekkei Buranko), すべるんです and the ZIP LINE no longer appear on E・ZO's official price page or floor guide. Whether the swing was removed or simply renamed isn't documented — so don't travel across town for it.

teamLab Forest, answered

FAQPage schema paired
Has teamLab Forest Fukuoka closed?

No. It is listed as permanent on teamLab's own site, opened 21 July 2020, and it is still the 5F tenant at BOSS E・ZO. The closure everyone half-remembers is teamLab Borderless in Odaiba, Tokyo, which shut in 2022 and later reopened at Azabudai Hills.

How much does it cost?

¥2,400 (~$16) for 16 and over, ¥2,000 (~$13.35) for students, ¥1,000 (~$6.67) for ages 4–15, free under 4. E・ZO's official page shows a ¥1,000–2,700 band because pricing moves by day. Klook sells it from about $15 (~¥2,250).

Is it worth it if I've done teamLab in Tokyo?

Probably not at full price. Fukuoka's Forest is materially smaller than Planets or Borderless, with two zones rather than a whole building. If you have kids in tow it still lands; if you're chasing the same scale, you'll feel short-changed.

How do I get to BOSS E・ZO?

Tojinmachi Station on the Kūkō line, Exit 3, then about 15 minutes on foot toward the dome — or take a bus from Hakata or Tenjin, which drops you closer. It's ¥260 (~$1.75) and roughly 10 minutes on the subway from Hakata Station.

What happened to the Zekkei Buranko swing and the zip line?

They're gone from every official page, replaced by the 絶景3兄弟 trio: すべZO (tube slide, from ¥1,000/~$6.67), つりZO (hanging coaster, from ¥1,500/~$10) and のぼZO (climbing, from ¥900/~$6). Guides still selling the swing haven't checked since the rebrand.

Is it good for a rainy day?

It's the best answer in the city — teamLab, VR, Sanrio, a food hall and a baseball museum in one covered building, next to a domed stadium. The whole wet-weather ranking: rainy-day Fukuoka.

Can we combine it with a Hawks game?

Yes, and it's the best-value day in Momochi: E・ZO is physically attached to Mizuho PayPay Dome, so teamLab in the afternoon and first pitch at 18:00 needs no transport in between. Tickets and seating: a SoftBank Hawks night.

Is there anything for toddlers?

Athletics Forest works from about age 3 if you're hands-on, and のぼZO's bouldering wall accepts age 4 and up. Under-3s go free but won't get much. The under-6 answer in this city is Anpanman at Hakata Riverain — priced and judged at Fukuoka with kids.
