It is plausibly the best-located major airport in the world, which is why an 'airport hotel' here is pointless. Is Fukuoka affected by the 2026 Kumamoto earthquake?
No — Fukuoka city is completely unaffected, and every day trip we rank (Dazaifu, Yanagawa, Itoshima, Kitakyushu, Nagasaki) runs normally. The disruption is south of Kumamoto: a suspended shinkansen segment and a closed castle. Dated detail: southern Kyushu access.
How do I get around?

How many nights do I need?
Two nights covers the city itself — that's the honest answer. But ask 'how long for Fukuoka plus day trips plus a Hawks game or sumo' and four to six nights is the better trip. The reframe that changes the answer: how many nights.
Are the yatai worth it?

What's the one unmissable thing?

When should I go?
